Experience:
Computer Forensics Examiner- Examined computer seized as evidence in criminal cases. Responsible for preserving digital evidence for later presentation in court. Locating and interpreting digital evidence to provide investigators. In this role I have utilized X-Ways Forensics, Encase, Linux OS, PyFlag, Helix, and various other open source forensics tools. I have additionally, completed numerous “data recovery” cases successfully in and out of the law enforcement arena.
Detective- As a Detective I have investigated, or been involved with the investigation of virtually every kind of case: Computer Crimes, Financial, Domestics, Robbery, Death Investigations, Environmental Crimes, Sex Crimes, and Burglaries to name a few. Duties included detailed reports, interviews/interrogations, courtroom presentation, subpoenas, search warrants, and arrest warrants.
Narcotics Agent- As a narcotics agent I worked drug cases from the street level dealer to the mid-level supplier. These case routinely involved surveillance, tailing, and the management of confidential sources. These cases led to search warrants, arrest warrants, and the seizure of financial assets. I have specialized training in money laundering investigations and conspiracies.
Street Crimes- I spent four years working street crimes. In this capacity, I spent 40 hours a week in the lowest income neighborhoods working day-in and day-out with the individuals who live there, the drug dealers, and other criminals that make it their home. This assignment built an understanding of the “street” and the hardened offender.
Aviation- I have six months experience as a “tactical flight officer” for a helicopter based aviation unit. I am still a back-up observer. My experience included daytime and nighttime patrol flights. The night time flights utilize the FLIR (forward looking infrared), Night Vision goggles, and the night sun spotlight.
Field Training Deputy- I have four years experience as a field training officer. This is the first line trainer and supervisor for new police officers. FTDs train new officers to take all the classroom training from the police academy, meld it with common sense and their agencies policies to hopefully become the best they can be to “serve and protect” the public.
Special Assignments: Rifle Team (8 years), Aviation, Environmental Crimes Investigator, and Computer Forensics.
